Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then located many other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the attack rendered him without words and had to be solved promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
